News Anchor: It's nothing unusual to have a cup of coffee at a coffee shop, but if when
you're drinking your coffee, actors are playing right next to you and even make you part of
the show----that is something special. Tonight and tomorrow night, Sun Theatre is
performing Our Daniel at Frog Restaurant. They're going to make everyone experiencing
the difference between watching shows in theatre and in coffee shops. The story starts
from what happens there.
Chiasui: This story is about two women who love the same man. It not only talks about
the relationship problems we encounter everyday, but also about the friendship between
women and how they compete with each other, trying to win the man they love over...
Anchor: Our Daniel is produced and performed by Sun Theatre from Taipei. There are
only two characters in the play, and everything takes place in a coffee shop. Two friends
meet each other unexpectedly. There is no stage scenery because the stage is the coffee
shop itself. Everyone who's in the coffee shop during that time is part of the show
you're drinking your coffee, actors are playing right next to you and even make you part of

Anchor: Chiasui Chen and ChiFen Chang go to audience's tables to talk to them, making
them part of the show.
Chiasui: There were some actors coming to see the show one night, and their friends had
told them the way this show is. So he started talking to me when I walked over to him. At first,
I was happy and excited about it, thinking that we have audience participating. But when the
conversation started going into a different direction than what I needed. I had to find a way to
end it. It's challenging. You have to know how to stay in the character no matter what
happens.
Anchor: This is Environment Theatre. There's no stage. Actors walking into a space and
improvise according to their script and circumstances.
Chiasui: If one's on the street, one may talk to the passerby; or the salesperson if one is in
the store. We want to challenge people, provoke them, get reaction from them. We are not
simply just telling a story to the audience. We want to make them think through these
encounters.
Anchor: Coming from Taipei, actress Chiasui Chen and Chifen Chang are both very young,
under thirty. But they hope people in Taichung would come to see their show. Come into
Frog restaurant, relax, watch the show and clap whenever you like.
